Jamie Lucarelli is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Earth, Planetary, and Space Sciences. Prior to starting graduate school, she received her Bachelor of Science degree from UCLA, majoring in Chemistry. Her Ph.D. research investigates proxy systematics in two state-of-the-art isotopic systems (Δ47 and Δ48), and also utilizes two low-temperature geochemical proxies (Mg/Ca and Ba/Ca) to advance our understanding of past climate change in the Amazon region.
Jamie is committed to increasing diversity in STEM fields and is an Early Career Fellow at the UCLA Center for Diverse Leadership in Science. She was awarded the Eugene V. Cota-Robles Fellowship. She also received the University of California Office of the President Dissertation Year Fellowship, whose recipients display academic achievements in combination with a commitment to diversity in higher education, advocacy for change, and interest in pursuing an academic career dedicated to the mentorship of future scholars.
