Maxence Guillermic is a geochemist and a Postdoc at UCLA. He defended his PhD in marine geosciences at IUEM in December 2018 (Institut Universitaire Européen de la Mer, France) after a master in marine chemistry and undergraduate in chemistry at UBO, France.
His work focus on studying changes in air-sea CO2 in different key areas of the Pacific Ocean during major climate events by using cutting-edge techniques such as boron isotopes, clumped isotopes and elemental ratios in foraminifera. He is also working on understanding the biomineralization pathways of different calcifying organisms and how those processes are impacted by global changes.
He is also dedicated to mentor undergraduate and PhD students by creating a safe environment and by building relationships of trust to successfully help them complete their goals. Passionate about the sea and diving, he passed his scientific diver certification to collect samples in the field. He can also be found free diving, running, horse riding, hiking, gardening.
